My name is Jim Milburn. Thank you for visiting my website and your interest in my fine art photography. My site showcases a variety of subjects I have photographed over the years including landscapes, nature, flowers, wildlife as well as local Louisiana scenes and subjects. I live in Central Louisiana (CENLA) not far from the little town of Bunkie. Bayou Boeuf is a stones-throw from my house. The name “Boeuf” comes from a French Cajun term for beef or cattle that were raised along it’s banks. This bayou holds significant meaning for me as my father was born and raised next to it a few miles south of were I live now.
Like many people, much of my early photography was focused on “recording” what was in front of me, but the transition to digital media has become more about what I saw in my mind’s eye at the time the photo was taken and how I could translate that into a fine art print. I have always been fascinated with the interplay of colors in the natural world, but my recent work has also included B&W as well as conversion to painting styles for canvas frames. Since retiring and moving to Louisiana in 2010 I have focused on local subjects ranging from churches to farm scenes as well as flower photography in a studio setting using light and dark backgrounds. Every season brings new opportunities so please visit again to see my new images from Bayou Boeuf.
